We had a colleague at work whose name was Dan. He was never really interested in the job. He kept on telling us it was boring, well below his skills and intellectual level, and the money they paid him were worth a laugh. Nobody else complained, it was only him who always had something negative to say just to let us down. He also boasted that he owned some gold bullion and would sell it one day. Then he would quit the job and live on the money forever. Well, it was all true, he owned some bullion bars. He did as he always told us he would do. He sold the gold one day, but we don"t really know how much gold that was and whether he got a lot of money for it. But he must have thought it was a fortune because he handed in his notice to our boss two weeks later. He went on holiday to Japan and sent us some nice postcards. But then we lost touch with him. One day, which was two or three years later, one of our colleagues met Dan in the streets of London. He looked really bad, his clothes were torn and he begged the passers-by for some money. He told Kate, our colleague, that after selling the gold bullion he spent a lot of money on unnecessary things and then lost the rest in a casino. Well, this is what Dan is like. Irresponsible and childish. I hope he finds a job soon, though, and starts earning enough to survive.
